In the ancient garden, God planted trees good for fruit. The tree of life was there, so also grew the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. This second tree became a forbidden one, since God warned Adam to not eat of it.
“…for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.” Genesis 2:17b
Then God formed Eve of Adam’s rib and the Hallmark Channel had it’s first story to tell. Problem came, as the ‘intuitive’ first lady ate some “knowledge tree” and so joined her Adam; death happened to both in the form of a brand new Consciousness. In one fatal swoop, a Serpent enabled an awareness of an evil kingdom — it’s evil side, but also it’s good side.
On the evil side of darkness, our first parents opened a Pandora’s Box of things like hatred, killing, rape, theft and overall abuse of fellow men and women. On the good side of darkness, introduced to humanity was religion, altruistic kindness, personality forming refuge from the evil side of darkness. (yes, the one inside every soul).
Foolish society chooses to believe that the mere “good side of evil” can provide enough of a shelter to eliminate the evil side. Some more “honest” ones have given in to the inevitability of the evil side of their own soul. Through “self-realization,” these seek acceptance for malignant, manipulative, self-protecting lies, which serve as a universal cover-up program for the masses. They even justify their murdering hearts. Their darkness has become their light.
“If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!” Matthew 6:23b
So, how are we to proceed if such a deception has enveloped a culture? Our answer shows itself manifestly from that other garden variety, The Tree of Life.
But oh! Were not the “tree of good and evil eaters” kicked outta the garden? Then how do they access the tree of Life?
Good news, ” In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God — In him was Life; and the Life was the light of men.” John 1:1 and 4
Friends, “the darkness comprehended not. that light” “…the world knew him not. He came unto his own, and his own received him not.”
“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God.”
even to them that believe on his name.
Folks, the way to the Life-tree proceeds not from trying to undo the treacherous falling of Adam and Eve — Neither from a self manufactured light– Neither from a self-actualized manifestation of an evil heart, though sincere. No, not by religion, and not by community service.
Frankly it requires the shift of focus away from you, and the “looking unto Jesus. The end of all self-observation opens the light to the hidden Tree — life eternal.
Precious souls, have you become discouraged yet with your impotence? Done yet with hiding shame? Done yet with covering pain, hurts and blistering? Done yet with repressing hatred, reaction, fear? Done yet with fighting battles which string you along but eventuate in more battles, never finding relief?
Are we done yet with dreaming of some non-Biblical Utopean ideal, which ain’t gonna happen, in this lifetime, nor never?
Please come to Jesus, “in Him was Life, and that life was the light of Men.”
His promise: “Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Matthew 11-28-30. love ya
