On Christmas Night All Christians Sing

On Christmas night all Christians sing, to hear the news the angels bring.

News of great joy,  news of great mirth, news of our merciful King’s birth.

Then why should Men on earth be sad, since our Redeemer made us glad;

When from our sin He set us free, all for to gain our LIBERTY.

When sin departs before His face, then life and health comes in it’s place.

Angels and Men with joy may sing, for all to see the newborn King.

And out of darkness we have Light, which made the angels sing this night.

“Glory to God in highest Heav’n, now and forever more.” Amen!

Leviticus  14:14-17 teaches:

“And the priest shall take some of the blood of the trespass offering, and the priest shall put it upon the tip of the right ear of him that is to be cleansed, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his r ight foot: And the priest shall take some of the log of oil, and pour it into the palm of his own left hand:”
“And the priest shall dip his right finger in the oil that is in his left hand, and shall sprinkle of the oil with his finger seven times before the Lord:  And of the rest of the oil that is in his hand shall the priest put upon the tip of the right ear of him that is to be cleansed, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his right foot, upon the blood of the trespass offering:”

When cleansing a person in need, the priest started with the blood of the sacrifice. It went on ear, thumb and toe, symbolizing hearing, thinking, walking.  All three areas are cleansed; hearing from filth and excess; the mind from defilement, the walk from daily dirtiness.

Then the priest applied oil to the same three areas. This spoke of The Holy Spirit, present in faculties of hearing, thinking, and walking. The Spirit occupies only a clean house.

Mrs. Chas E. Cowman writes of the many advices given to Jesus, “save thyself.” Instead of Bethany and Lazarus, “save thyself,” at the Passover, “save thyself,” at Calvary, “save thyself.”

At Gethsemane Jesus decided not to save himself. So blood was provided, to cleanse. Us!

“Without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sin.”

Bitter-sweet, if we visit the bitter, we cherish the sweet. Christmas is a penetrating light into darkness — that Light listened, thought and decided, and then it walked. When Jesus died, the Light did not. But we see, “the light of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.”

Then oil pours forth, the Holy Spirit, Comforter comes. He tells us the story of birth, death, burial, resurrection, Ascension, seating of the Christ man.

It’s the greatest story ever told and starts with Bethlehem, a star, shepherds, angels, wise men, a manger with a babe, a mom, a glow a celebration.
