Inner Beauty

Some days no thoughts come. Too much sugar in last night’s snack? Maybe. The Complexity of a man’s soul; body and spirit also, make for an exciting life of wonder.

Victor Frankl defined some of the complexity as the tension between objectivity and subjectivity in a person’s inner being. He said we always battle back and forth between the two.

I will say this, objectivity (freedom from bias, Merriam Webster) can only be attained from an un-biased source i.e. The Bible. Un-bias includes every person, considers every possibility, and explains every nuance or phenomena known to mankind.

In contrast is the Subjective realm ( of or relating to the essential being of that which has substance, qualities, attributes, or relations: Merriam Webster). Subjective is extra-Biblical, however, it is explicitly described in the objective Word of God. Yes, the objective Word speaks of the Subjective in no uncertain terms — head sick, heart faint, wounds, bruises, purifying sores. More? Incurable, cannot be mollified with ointment, desperately wicked, unknowable. — Resultant from our first parent’s eating of the fruit of a tree — the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. From this we discover the root of man’s moral nature. Perhaps “good” humanly speaking, but missing something — inner beauty.

So let’s talk about inner beauty. First some quotes:

Beauty is (the quality or aggregate of qualities in a person or thing that gives pleasure to the senses or pleasurably exalts the mind or spirit. Merriam Webster).

“We also call inner beauty as beauty of mind. A person who is beautiful from the heart, does not have all these tricks, deceit, hatred, kindness, sorrow, gentleman, etc. are in the nature of that person. If you have inner beauty then everybody will love you, and will respect you.” Rahul Aryan B.A. in British Literature & English (language)Patna University

I cannot disagree, but what person can throw away the outward soul-formations as Rahul describes, and find something which everyone will love? Only through the Spirit of Christ as found in the Bible. See, the tricks: deceit, hatred, kindness, sorrow, gentleman, etc. and a thousand more, manufactured by subjective observation, evaluation and mimicry, lack the true substance of beauty. They can be labeled “personality?” These are much illustrated through the fig-leaved fabrication of clothing which Adam and Eve now desperately needed. Why? They discovered their nakedness — The Subjective Raw of mankind!

Exodus 28:2  teaches “And thou shalt make holy garments for Aaron thy brother for glory and for beauty.” The garments of the High Priest were made for beauty. They represented another beauty, 1Chronicles 16:29  tells of it;

“Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.”

David recognized that “I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord.” Psalm 27:4

Psalm 50:2   Zion is called, “the perfection of beauty.” or the reflection of the Lord.

However, Psalm 39:11 teaches, “When thou with rebukes dost correct man for iniquity, thou makest his beauty to consume away like a moth: surely every man is vanity.”

Friends inner beauty comes in a beholding of Lord’s beauty. The beauty of Holiness. When corrected mankind has an opportunity to discover his own lack of beauty, without God.

In Proverbs 6:25  We are taught “Lust not after her beauty in thine heart” We are not to lust after the outward beauty of another person. It is vain Proverbs 31:30.

In closing. we are instructed:

“Hear, O daughter, and see, and incline thine ear; forget also thy people, and thy father’s house.
Because the king has desired thy beauty; for he is thy Lord. Psalm 45:11

  1. Hear the Word,
  2. See God
  3. incline your ear
  4. forget your earthly ties
  5. forget your natural identity.

You will be beautiful to Him ! love ya
