I woke up in fog, in a foreign land. I think it was somewhere like Europe and the conversation had many presumptions. There pervaded an atmosphere, a terrible feeling of doom and gloom. The background dialogue implied fault, mostly of my own. The voices were of unknown caretakers.
Not to panic, however, my soul had been trained to yield (attitude positioning), to the Precious Spirit. That seeming real world of dread soon faded and vanished far behind comforting thoughts of love and safety from God’s Word.
Romans 13:11 has taught us, ” …knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.”
1Corinthian 15:34 also, “Awake to righteousness, and sin not.”
Ephesians 5:14 follows, “…Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.”
Awake:
- We are going soon to meet him, and it becomes us to rouse, and to do those deeds, and those only, which will bear the bright shining of the light of truth, and the scrutiny of Him who is “light, and in whom is no darkness at all;” 1John 1:5. Barnes
- Awake out of stupid, fatal indifference to eternal things. JFB
- from ” …grace being dormant in the soul. …and an abstinence from spiritual company and from outward peace and liberty: Gill
Friends we are to “Walk in the light as He is in the Light — we will have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin.” The verse teaches us to adjust to:
“an identity in the essential element of our daily walk with the essential element of God’s eternal being.” JFB
Beloved, if we continue to make our way, progress; to make due use of opportunities,
to live, to regulate life, to conduct self, in the light He is in —
we will have true fellowship with one another.
” …we cannot have fellowship with one another unless we have it with God in Christ, and to do that we must walk in the light with God.” AT Robertson
“Our one aim should be to maintain such a walk with God that the “union” with God may be unimpaired. The verse also teaches, “If there are still sins of ignorance, the blood of Jesus will continue to remove them.” F B Meyer

Hebrews 9:14 reinforces this truth about cleansing, “How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?”
Through the Eternal Spirit? Pulpit Commentary helps here:
Be it observed, first, that the words are “the eternal Spirit,” not “the Holy Spirit.” It is not the usual designation of the Third Person of the Holy Trinity. There are three notable texts in which the Spirit in Christ is opposed to the flesh:
“Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;” And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead: Romans” 1:3-4
1Timothy 3:16 “great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. “
1Peter 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
“Corresponding to this in Christ was “the eternal Spirit”—a truly Divine spiritual person, conjoined with his added humanity. Through this he overcame death, it being impossible that he should be holden of it; through this, too he offered himself a willing sacrifice, submitting to the full penalty of human sin in obedience to the Father’s will. ” “the eternal Spirit” triumphed over the weakness of humanity.

As we walk and remain in the light (precise light), in our vital union with Christ, we are made aware of this “eternal spirit” which resides in every born again believer. As Christ had the “spirit of holiness, was justified in the spirit, and was quickened by the spirit, so have we. As He had perfect obedience by this eternal spirit and overcame His humanity, so also can we.
Our cleansing is in that eternal spirit, as we adjust to and live in it, we walk in the light. Simply agree with God about any sin, we may have, receive forgiveness and cleansing. Enjoy the fellowship with brothers and sisters in Christ. Lastly
“Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called…” 1Timothy 6:12
