Galatians 3:22 But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.
Romans 5:17 “For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ”
Lewis Sperry Chafer explains the deep truth that the Scriptures teach. He says, “it is a universal, judicial decree which places the whole race absolutely without merit before God. From that position there is no escape other than through the exercise of pure grace on the part of God.” see Romans 3:23-24, Isaiah 1;6
With grace, (Divine favor), and a gifting of righteousness, (a freely given judicial standing before God), a person who simply believes can “reign” in life. so says Romans 5:17 No other way is given, no other name.
Acts 4:12 illustrates this point, “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” –The name of Jesus Christ
Chafer adds to this above fact and continues, “the law principle is not retained as a possible optional relationship to God.”
“As far as his relation to man is concerned, man is free to reject or distort the truth of God, and to impose the law obligation on himself.” In such a case it does not follow that God accepts , or even recognizes, any self-imposed legalism.” And, “the self-constituted legalist, to be consistent with his own choice, …must observe the whole Law to do it. The Law was a unit.” He that offends in one point is guilty of all.” “Chafer
Above applies to the one who without divine sanction, or recognition, has assumed the obligation of the Law.”
Chafer goes on” The law was never given to any people other than Israel.” see Deuteronomy 5:1, Romans 9:4.
“Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises;” Romans 9:4
So, ” Romans 2:14 teaches, “For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves.”
“There is no record, says Chafer, of any assumption of the law on the part of Gentiles before the death of Christ.”
“The divine application of the law ceased then”
Jews ,however, still persist in the observance of the Law because of unbelief. Gentiles who fail to recognize the meaning of the Cross and pure grace, may assume the Law obligation. Some believe it a means for justification, others who are justified by faith take it on as a rule of life. see 2 Corinthians 3:15,16
But, ” Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away. ” 2Corinthians 3:16
Jewish people, as well as any Gentile can receive the gift of Salvation at any time.
Lets close with Romans 2:14-15, “For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves. Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;) “
So, the Gentiles, who now practice the things contained in the law are not said to be of Divine judgment because of broken law; they are, by that self-imposed law, either self-excused or self-accused according as they have created a conscience in regard to the law.
In closing, we must remember that, ” all were alienated from the life of God, through the ignorance that was in them, see (Romans_3:11. ) A moral light was given to every man, coinciding with God’s law but in every case distorted and corrupted by man’s own creative way.
All flesh had corrupted its way, Gen 6:5; Gen 6:11
Beloved, be not deceived, God is not mocked. Revelation 1:6 calls us “kings”. We reign by grace and the gift of righteousness. love ya
