Beloved, the song goes something like this: “When Jesus wept, the falling tear, in mercy flowed beyond all bound. When Jesus groaned, a trembling fear seized all the guilty world around.”

Strange as we may think, human error lies beneath every human tragedy. When David was restored to his kingdom after the Absalom revolution, his general policy was one of amnesty toward all.

In 2Samuel 16:5-14 Shimei threw stones and cursed the king, David as he was forced out of his kingship.

2Samuel 15:14  “And David said unto all his servants that were with him at Jerusalem, Arise, and let us flee;”

David did not react to the personal attack, in 2 Samuel 16, and rebuked his Men who encouraged a retaliation. Later when David returned to Jerusalem, after the conspiracy of Absalom ended with his death, David pardoned Shimei.

2Samuel 19:21-23  “But Abishai the son of Zeruiah answered and said, Shall not Shimei be put to death for this, because he cursed the Lord’s anointed?  And David said, What have I to do with you, ye sons of Zeruiah, that ye should this day be adversaries unto me? shall there any man be put to death this day in Israel? for do not I know that I am this day king over Israel? Therefore the king said unto Shimei, Thou shalt not die. And the king sware unto him. “

Lastly, before His crucifixion, Jesus wept on the hillside overlooking Jerusalem. He had compassion on the multitudes as they were like sheep without a Shepherd. Matthew 14:14.

Beloved, a soft answer turns away wrath. Please be with people and learn of God’s ways. Mercy rejoices against judgment. Love ya
