For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. 1Corinthians 13:12
As we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses our conscience.
It began in Genesis, “God said, let there be light.” “The greater light ruled the day, the lesser light ruled the night. “See Genesis 1.
In the book of Exodus, God led the children of Israel with fire by night, and a cloud by day. God himself adjusted the daylight with a cloud, and the night light with a fire.
Next, in Exodus 25, oil was needed for the lamp inside of the Tabernacle. Indeed, oil was burned continually. producing the light, and pictures for us the precious Holy Spirit. The spirit of burning, in Isaiah 4 verse 4.
In second Samuel 21 verse 17 , David was referred to as the light of Israel. It was expedient that he be not subject to the giants of the Philistines and so extinguishing that light. So light shined in darkness, later on a lamp stand, but now through a man. And David exclaimed:
For thou art my lamp, O Lord, and the Lord will lighten my darkness For by thee I have run through a troop: by my God have I leaped over a wall. 2Samuel 22:29-30
With light the people knew the way in which they should go. Extremely valuable, light coming through a man, from a lamp stand, from the sun in the sky, from the moon at night. A pillar of fire, a cloud by day.
After a severe trial and deliverance in the book of Esther:
The Jews had light, and gladness, and joy, and honor. Esther_8:16
Isaiah 45:7 teaches us, “I form the light, and create darkness.” And, “Who is among you that feareth the LORD, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness, and hath no light? let him trust in the name of the Lord, and stay upon his God. Behold, all ye that kindle a fire, that compass yourselves about with sparks: walk in the light of your fire, and in the sparks that ye have kindled. This shall ye have of mine hand; ye shall lie down in sorrow.”Isaiah_50:10-11
Job lamented the darkness that he had experienced in his trial. He recalls the time:
“When his candle shined upon my head, and when by his light I walked through darkness;” Job 29:3
“Yea, the light of the wicked shall be put out, and the spark of his fire shall not shine. He shall be driven from light into darkness, and chased out of the world.” Job 18:5, 18
Psalm4:6 teaches us to pray “Lord, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us.”
And declare, “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? Ps 27
And, Psalm 36:9 reminds us, “For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light.
So, in Psalm_97:11 “Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart.”” Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness:”
Psalm:119:105 declares, “Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. and Psalm 119:130 The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.”
Psalm_139:12 Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day” And, Proverbs 4:18 ” But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.”
Beloved, the glorious light in the countenance of God himself, and then shown through his Word, and then shining more and more until the perfect day is extremely valuable to understand. Frankly it is our hope, it is our salvation, it is our righteousness, our present standing before God. Life and immortality are brought to light. In addition it is a road. which leads us unto the perfect day, the day of his return, the day of future glory.
Finally, comes the dawning of the age of Christ. John tells us about him:
“In him was life; and the life was the light of men.” however,
John 3:19 is the bad side, “And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.” But Jesus proclaimed:
“I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”
” While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light” John 12:36
It becomes our mission, “To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light.” Acts 26:18
Friends, “walk as children of light. ” Indeed , “let us put on the armour of light. Romans 13:12 love ya
