An Even Place

My foot stands in an even place: in the congregations will I bless the Lord. Psalm 26:12 

Psalm 27:11  is a prayer, “Teach me thy way, O Lord, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies.”

‘Some went down to the sea in ships, doing business on the great waters; they saw the deeds of the Lord, his wondrous works in the deep.   For he commanded and raised the stormy wind, which lifted up the waves of the sea. They mounted up to heaven; they went down to the depths; their courage melted away in their evil plight;  they reeled and staggered like drunken men and were at their wits’ end.  Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress.  He made the storm be still, and the waves of the sea were hushed. Then they were glad that the waters were quiet, and he brought them to their desired haven.” Psalm 107:23-30 

Even places, plain paths, and desired havens apparently can happen — a table in the presence of our enemies, a calm in the midst of a storm. In Psalm 18:36 we have, “Thou hast enlarged my steps under me, that my feet did not slip.” With broadened ground to place our traveling feet, we can move faster, securely, surely.

“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.” Psalm 37:23 

This salient man has his steps supported, enhanced, stood erect. Obstacles removed, the track supports a sprint. God delights in the runner of that race.

So,

” …let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith…” Hebrews 12:2 

With patience we run the race which has already been won by Christ. With patience we condemn doubt and unbelief. With patience we keep our eyes fixed on the Finished work of Christ. We dare not take up the race in our fleshly strength, nor in our emotional prowess. We lay aside lusts and mental encumbrances, hang- ups, projections of failure, past experiences. We find the way of patience, a place of hiding, abiding in the vine of eternal sustenance, we are trees planted by the river of living water. We do not see when the heat comes, our leaves do not fade in the year of drought. See Jeremiah 17

In closing, “I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favor to men of skill; but time and chance happens to them all.” Ecclesiastes 9:11 

Romans 9:16  follows, ” So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy. “

Beloved, God’s mercy rejoices against judgment. The king’s throne is upheld in mercy. Our feet stand in mercy, that which doesn’t give us what we do deserve, but gives us something we do not deserve.

Stand In it. Loins gird up with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;   And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;   Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:  Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit.” Ephesians 6:18 

Yield yourself servants to His finished work, after all, we are servants of His righteousness — the glorious gift. love ya
