Believe and be Made Whole

Jeremiah_15:18 “Why is my pain perpetual, and my wound incurable, which refuseth to be healed?”

Jeremiah_30:12 “For thus saith the LORD, Thy bruise is incurable, and thy wound is grievous.”

Nicodemus said to him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born? Of course not! “Can the Ethiopian change his skin or the leopard his spots? Then also you can do good who are accustomed to do evil.” Jeremiah 13:23. “Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?” Matthew_6:27

“The patient cannot permit himself to perceive the trauma until he is ready to take a stand toward it.” “…we are unable to give attention to something until we are in some way to experience an ‘I can’ toward it.” Merleau Ponty “Memory is like perception in this regard; the patient cannot remember something until he is ready to take some stand toward it.” Rollo May

Lets go to the pool at Bethesda in John 5:5. “And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years. When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole? The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me. This man, like Nicodemus related to the opportunity as a chore that he must do.

Jesus words in Mark 10:27 say “With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.” “And Jesus looking upon them saith, with men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26

With these examples, what part of the word “impossible” are we not getting? In actuality, we may get it, but our state of denial may also hide it. What do I mean? Part of us feels that it must try to do something while the other part knows, perhaps subconsciously, that “I can’t.”

Though Jesus was offering Nicodemus something supernatural, Nic perceived it in a natural way. He queries, “Can we crawl back into our mother’s womb?” Many think the same. We think that God is asking us to perform something or participate in something that is impossible for us. We are not interested and sometimes we don’t even know why, but the opportunity meets with our double-mindedness.

Friends, we already are sensing unconsciously that we cannot change, we cannot get better, and we cannot break our addictions. The longer we have held these debilities, the less chance of ever getting out of them. We know this, but why is it this way? Because we men-of-pride have solidly erected a wall of protection around our wounds, weaknesses, shame, and fear.

What does that wall look like? The outer wall is one of “denial,” an indifference that pushes away all concern. It doesn’t want to talk about it, revisit it, or try to heal it. Instead, it wants to hide it for shame or fear. Next, we self-heal. What is this? This is done by using our clever powers of mind to turn the evil into good. We use rationale to interpret our debility as something that we can “live with.” We learn to like it; then we commit to it. We might fall in love with it, but it doesn’t cure it.

Friends, God truly knows that my life is a big coverup. I have erected a masterful facsimile of a person and I look pretty good. The mechanism is faulty however because we cannot face what Jesus brings. This is the clue to us that something is still missing. His offer of life and healing seems to us an offer to die. Indeed my idolic image of a healed and self sufficient man must face that it is a lie.

The good news is this, I don’t have to do the impossible. God is offering miracles, grace, healing and salvation. These cannot be received by effort, but effort may get in the way. Receive it by believing, beloved, and don’t even worry about the implications. There is no cost involved, no sacrifice, no work. God can bring unbelievable things into our distorted perception. Set that perception aside and get ready for the most awesome experience of your life. Let Him do it all, stay out of the way. Please don’t let your weird concepts limit your healing, deliverance and conversions.

Finally, it takes God to know God. Simply allow Him to invade your life and let Him reveal Himself to you. Yes we are all wrong, but when He is allowed to enter, all is now right. He will give you His righteousness, and will become our wisdom, sanctification and redemption. His yoke is easy, His burden is light. He is meek and lonely of heart, and will bring rest to our soul. Love ya
