1Peter 1:3-5 teaches, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.”
Friends, our salvation accords with His abundant mercy, pardon not deserved but undeserved by us. Can we imagine this realm of existence?
“The Lord taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy.” Psalm 147:11
Hope births in the comfortable confines of mercy, steady as a rock, as secure as resurrection, defying death; mercy rejoices over judgement.
Folks, in mercy/resurrection,
a conscience freeing world excluding judgement, and an eruption of confidence and courage emerges into an inheritance, incorruptible, undefiled, unfading, and awaiting our occupation, which secures itself heaven-fixed.
Oh, don’t worry if this inheritance seems unreal for us presently. It remains “ready to be revealed in the last time.”
We only need, “the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him.”
So, “The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe,” Ephesians 1:18-19
Beloved, “\now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifies himself, even as he is pure.” 1John 3:2-3
Saints,
” Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light.” Colossians 1:12
We have an inheritance, we hope in it, and we hold it in the light. Purifying ourselves maintains itself by our walking in the light.
“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanses us from all sin.” 1John 1:7
Alford notices, “Walking in the light as He is in the light, is no mere imitation of God, but an identity in the essential element of our daily walk with the essential element of God’s eternal being.”
- We walk, God is — in the light.
- We move through time; He is in eternity.
- Our activity involves change; His does not.
- Like the sun, He both is Light and dwells in the light; and if we walk in the light, which is His atmosphere, we have fellowship one with another.
So, “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1John 1:8-9
Believer’s, in the light of God’s eternal dimension, in the light of that destiny as my sure future, I simply assent to all past and present sins and failures, humbly confess them as a part of my sin nature in Adam, experience their cleansing as promised — then walk in the light with Him.
Psalm 36:9 teaches “For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light.”
The Psalmist prays, “Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity; and quicken thou me in thy way. “Psalm 119:37
“Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.” Psalm 119: 18
Walk with a single eye, no hidden agenda, no deceit Completely acknowledge both your inherited sin nature, but also your sinless inheritance in Christ. The Holy Spirit of God will enable sight beyond the mundane, beyond the tragedy of circumstances, beyond earthly pleasure, beyond the filth of earthly attachments. Enjoy the upper sphere! Love ya
