Sentimental Journey

We watch and pray. The whole time trying to connect the dots, or piece together the significance of current events. Again and again we find solace in our God, who defines the immediate. Moment by moment we proceed, and that with patience.

Revelation 14:12  speaks to us, “Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.”

This statement is made in the wake of the announcement:

“Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.” Revelation 14:8

In this passage a great city pushed forward “fornication” to the point of infecting all nations, and so bringing God’s wrath on all. (the whole world?)

“…and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath. “Revelation 16:9

Rev 17:1b – Rev 17:2a teaches, “I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sits upon many waters:  With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication.”

They have indulged unlawful lust, played the harlot — figuratively, entered into idolatry.

The religion of Marxism enables lust to play out. “Marxist utopianism is far more than a rhetorical device. It has the effect of freeing them of responsibility to the world in which they live.”” Freed from historical restraint, there dwells in the back of each Marxist’s mind his own vision of society as it should be, and as, he is persuaded, it will be.” “In the light of this personalized version of the Millennium, or moved by the vague feeling that perfection can be won, the Marxist wields the axe of judgment upon the society in which he lives.” DeKoster

“…Marxism dissolved every social bond it touched” “Marxist faith disintegrates society.” “.. makes them the professional enemies of their societies.”

“consistency is consonant with responsibility, the Marxist knows nothing of either.” “Marxism prescribes no fixed response to any situation.”

Finally, if “stripped of the idea of the classless society, Marxism is a religion without an ideal, which is SENTAMENTALISM.” all quotes by Lester DeKoster

Hello?

I like to think of sentimentalism as rooted in the feelings. Webster’s defines:

amarked or governed by feeling, sensibility, or emotional idealism
bresulting from feeling rather than reason or thought.

In our world’s psychological studies we have unearthed a hypothesis of “emotional intelligence.”

My opinion about this runs con-current with the sentimentalism of our age. Frankly, driven by our desires in a dark society groping for some daylight, we intellectually calculate the excuses to lust — we empathize with the lonely, identify with their need, approve bashfully their unethical love affair.

Revelation 3:15  sheds light “I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.  So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.”

Friends, an emotion filled frame of reference feels one thing today, and another tomorrow.

My summary: Capable of falling into the trap of emotional thinking, I must guard against it. Can it happen? Yes! A rigid doctrinal stance describes the only remedy. As the Marxist defends his right to sentimentality, we must adjust our emotions to live in a response/appreciation to the Word of God. I gotta fall in love again with His Word.

Lastly, Revelation 2:1  “Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; “…I know thy works, and thy labor, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars: And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name’s sake hast labored, and hast not fainted.

Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.”

Don’t do it, beloved brother and sister love ya
