“A child is born, a son is given.”
In Proverbs, The Son as “wisdom personified” speaks,
When he (Yahweh), gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth: Then I (wisdom), was by him, as one brought up with him: and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him; Rejoicing in the habitable part of his earth; and my delights were with the sons of men.
Proverbs 8:29-31
As a babe in swaddling wrap, as a young man at the Temple, we only must imagine the Christ child growing up. Magnificent to behold as surrounded by kings and shepherds; prophesy ushers his appearing, see Micah 5:2, Matthew 2:5-6. Bethlehem birthed Him.
Luke reports:
And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him. Luke 2:40
“His was a perfect humanity developing perfectly, unimpeded by hereditary or acquired defects. It was the first instance of such a growth in history. For the first time a human infant was realizing the ideal of humanity” (Plummer).
AT Robertson adds, “The intellectual, moral, and spiritual growth of the Child, like the physical, was real.”
The JFB commentary gives us, “The grace of God,” the divine favor, rested manifestly and increasingly upon Him.

And when he was twelve years old, they (Mary and Joseph), went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast. “…as they returned, the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother knew not of it.”” …after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions. And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers. “Luke 2:42
They were “thrown into wonderment.” as “Wisdom” Himself fellowshipped with them. When sought of mother and step-father Joseph, He answered:
“How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?”
AT Robertson comments on these remarks, “Not “about my Father’s business,” but “in my Father’s house” (Gen_41:51). And note “my,” not “our.” When the boy first became conscious of his peculiar relation to the Father in heaven we do not know. But he has it now at twelve and it will grow within him through the years ahead in Nazareth.”
” …even in early life, it was proper that he should be engaged in the work for which he came. He did not enter, indeed, upon his public work for eighteen years after this; yet still the work of God was “his” work, and always, even in childhood, it was proper for him to be engaged in the great business for which he came down from heaven.” Barnes.
and Gill adds, “…to work out salvation for his people, by fulfilling the law,” This was His present business.

Baptized by John, Father confirms the Sonship,
“And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” Mark1:11
Jealousy for Father’s House shows again after, “And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves, And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves. “Matthew21:12-13
In closing Paul narrows his gospel message, “For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.” 1Corinthians 2:2
First, Jesus Christ “…God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.”Acts 10:38 reports years later
Next the Crucified, John 19:18 ” …they crucified him, and two other with him, on either side one, and Jesus in the midst. “
“The Cross added to the “scandalon” of the Incarnation. AT Robertson
