The Drift

“Let your yea be yea and your nay be nay.”

“But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead.” 2 Corinthians 1:9

“When I therefore was thus minded, did I use lightness? or the things that I purpose, do I purpose according to the flesh, that with me there should be yea yea, and nay nay? 2 Corinthians 1:17

What is lightness? (Hebrews. to stagger.) Websters defines “fickle” with “Wavering; inconstant; unstable; of a changeable mind; irresolute; not firm in opinion or purpose; capricious.” “Not fixed or firm; liable to change …”

Matthew 5:37 But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.

Paul had conceded that he would die in verse 9 above. Indeed, there had been a self-verdict which conformed him to Christ’s death already. Can we make such concessions? — Dare we? Folks, “Trust in God” births itself when we brazenly forfeit self trust. Unless we forsake self trust by embracing our “sentence,” simple or profound, rescuing stands afar off.

Friends, life comes at us. We trust, concede, yield, to the facts. This generation didn’t:

“But whereunto shall I liken this generation? It is like unto children sitting in the markets, and calling unto their fellows, And saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned unto you, and ye have not lamented. For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a devil. The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.” Matthew 11:16-19

Which generation? — Sounds familiar.

Have we ever witnessed a generation so unwilling to look life square in the face, as the current one? In-vogue today we observe opinions, oppositions, self-interpreting, psychological justifying, bold faced lying and slander; yes slander and all on a grand scale.

What’s the problem? –That would be a disgusting display of arrogant self-love, a hideous lack of humility, a duped power-mongering self-god attitude, and a channeling of “they know not what.” “Yea and nay” have given way to the use of the “fickle” and the thrill of capricious “wisdom.” –perilous, seductive, and reprobate.

When dancing was introduced, men refused, when mourning, they refused again. This generation neither dances or mourns. Their psyche flirts with the alter-stability of instability, the contentment of immovable narcissism. Considering the concept “god of my understanding,” who emerges truly “god?”

Swimmers drowning resist the rescue till they run out of fight.

“Drowning victims, especially adults, can be dangerous. Someone who is panicking will instinctively clutch at anything and use it to push themselves up. This means pushing their rescuer down, which is easy to do if the rescuer is tired, or if they’ve pinned their rescuer’s arms. If you witness someone drowning, most emergency responders agree that what you need to do is look around for something buoyant before you even get in the water, get in a boat, or try to throw the drowning person something from shore. Swimming to someone who’s drowning and trying to take hold of them is dangerous even for professionals.” http://io9.gizmodo.com/why-rescuers-die-while-drowning-victims-survive-1680233920

He who digs a pit may fall into it, and a serpent may bite him who breaks through a wall.
He who quarries stones may be hurt by them, and he who splits logs may be endangered by them.
 Ecclesiastes 10:8-12
“Then Jacob was left alone, and a man wrestled with him until daybreak. When he saw that he had not prevailed against him, he touched the socket of his thigh; so the socket of Jacob’s thigh was dislocated while he wrestled with him.”Gen 32:24

Friends, we all have too much human-strength, period.

Unless God touches the thigh socket, Jacob overpowers the Man, and loses the fight. But, in losing he wins. Beloved never be ashamed of your weakness, when weak, receive His strength. Don’t thrash against the weakening process. Mourn or  dance as God brings the pipe of circumstance. Die to self-delivery, self-struggling, self-help. God will minister to you on your bed of languishing. He is our strength.    love ya
