“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” Psalm 119:105
The times, perilous, appear to have come and fierce they are. “Intensively aggressive, violent, or powerful — such as a “fierce storm” or “fierce, competitive rivals”. It commonly means wild or menacing, but can also describe strong emotions, intense heat, or, informally, a bold, confident, and stylish appearance. Synonyms include savage, ferocious, intense, and vehement.” Webster
Proverbs 30:14 instructs us, “There are those whose teeth are swords, whose fangs are knives, to devour the poor from off the earth, the needy from among mankind. “
So we are warned,
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 1 Peter 5:8
Benson comments on this word, “devour “— “Swallow up both soul and body. This manner of speaking strongly expresses the insatiable rage of this enemy of mankind to hinder their salvation, and the danger we are in from his devices and snares. He sometimes attacks the people of God in person, though not visibly, and sometimes by his ministers, the other evil spirits who are in league with him; and sometimes by wicked men, his subjects, whom he instigates to tempt them by the terror of persecution.”

But the Word of God in the mouth of Jeremiah had a reverse-devour effect, “Wherefore thus saith the Lord God of hosts, Because ye speak this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them.” Jeremiah 5:14
Hebrews 4:12-13 reminds us, “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do. “
Revelation 12:9-11, is hallmark, “And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
O the blood of the Lamb!
1Peter 1:18-19 “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: “
It is precious!
Romans 3:25 “Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;”
We have a mercy seat.
Romans 5:9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
Ephesians 1:7 “‘In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;”
Ephesians 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
We are justified.
Colossians 1:20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross,
it has a practical effect:
Hebrews 9:14 “How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?”
1John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
Beloved, we can keep the nagging conscience at bay with the blood, the Word, and the taking up of His cross in our co-crucifixion . Get the accuser off our back. Now we are clean through the Word. John 15:3 love ya
