“Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines.
For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace.” Hebrews 13:9
Windy surmisings must not bear us away.
1) “…they lie in wait to deceive.” —— Who does this?
n Some men who take a “stab” at life;
n They throw the dice.
n They take a chance at truth.
n They go risky ——– Deceive Who?
2) “…children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine…” ——- How?
3) “… sleight of men, and cunning craftiness.”
“To be “free” and self-determined is the temptation to man.”
Folks lust to “find” themselves (in themselves) and put off incoming restraints. Psalm 12
“Emancipation” from Christ and conscience however, puts a man in a scary place because Laws, social mores, and influences of religion die.
In leaving the old,
new precepts will take over. What are these a-priori’s? — Evolution? Freud?
“If humans are understood in analogy to animals, for good or ill the laws of nature have to be applied to history; and
1) The principle of oppression
2) The instinct of aggression
3) The right of the strong;
have to be described as natural, and divested of moral relevance” Thielicke
Aha! We “changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.” Romans 1:23 That glory was in us.
In the mind of the risk-taking animal-adopters, Romans 1 next cites the “dishonoring of their bodies.” Animals do this? Yes, We do it with our identity switch.
If you want to be a Darwinite, you have to contend with primal (animal) instincts. These become the rules and guides. Oppress, aggress, and survive, O fit one! The creatures do it. Birds and such.
Next, Freud taught us we are “under a complex of sub-conscious impulses.” “We are not under the control of the self and it’s will.”
With this, the Romans 1 “reprobate” has voided judgment. He has lost common sense.
So,
animal and
impulse and
instinct rule the roost.
Do we get the picture?
There is hope?
So, “He that will not believe in Christ must see to it how he can get along without Him.”
“We have all things and abound; not because I have a good store of money in the bank, not because I have skill and wit with which to win my bread, but because the Lord is my shepherd.”
― Charles Haddon Spurgeon
“If you do not believe you are a lost sheep, then you do not need a Savior who is the Good Shepherd Jesus Christ. John 10:11-14.”
― Felix Wantang, God’s Blueprint of the Holy Bible
Lastly, a Shepherd leads the cliff-falling, bush entangling, deception prone sheep. (us) He leads us to the Father's Heart and unconditional love.
Grace-heart-establishment adds our glory back which we lost in the Garden of Eden. Somewhat like animals, we roam for a while.
