Hebrews 12:15 teaches us:
Look diligently, lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled.
To fail the grace of God: “The implication is “to be inferior; to fall short, to be deficient: to come behind.” “The image is taken from a company of travelers, one of whom lags behind, and so never reaches the end of the long and laborious journey” [Chrysostom]. The word “fail“, “fall back from,” implies a previous attainment. Vincent
” … failing of the grace of God; it is to become bankrupt…want of a good foundation and suitable care and diligence; it is failing of the grace of God, coming short of a principle of true grace in the soul, … and so coming short of the love and favor of God here and hereafter.” MH
Beloved, we must never be-little grace. Never use it as licence, but never underestimate it’s deep, deep meaning. It is foundational.
Consider the words of Jesus in John_4:14 “But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.”
Jesus was offering a woman He met, a chance to never thirst again — not just a quick refresher, but an everlasting sustainer. He spoke shortly after,” “I have meat to eat that ye know not of. My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work. ” He spoke of never thirsting or hungering again. The quality is eternal.

Friends, something will spring up in our soul, if not grace, then bitterness.
Jesus taught the hypocrites, “Not that which goeth into the mouth defiles a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defiles a man.”
The inward man of the heart holds the key to bitterness protection. Which hunger will we feed?
The full soul loathes an honeycomb; but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet. Proverbs 27:7
Jesus taught, “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.” Matthew 5:6
Beloved,
“They which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.” Paul in Romans 5
Folks, we can and must live in the redemption which is ours, given in Christ Jesus’ Word and work of salvation. Drink of the fountain of life freely. Revelation 21 , 22.
Refrain from, “… forsaking Jesus, the fountain of living waters, and hewing out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.” Jeremiah 2:13
If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. John 7:38

Finally, Moses led them to Marah: The story has a moral:
and they went three days in the wilderness, and found no water. And when they came to Marah, they could not drink of the waters of Marah, for they were bitter: therefore the name of it was called Marah. And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink? And he cried unto the Lord; and the Lord shewed him a tree, which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet: Exodus 15:23-25
Folks, the cross of Christ has made every bitter thing sweet. That rugged tree when thrown into our bitter waters, makes it sweet. Apply it to your water. It will spring up to everlasting life. love ya
