The Bible shies not away from graphic language when speaking of the devil’s work. Here are a few examples:
Daniel 7:25 “And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High …”
Isaiah 59:19b ” …When the enemy shall come in like a flood …”
Revelation 12:10b ” … for the accuser of our brethren … which accused them before our God day and night.”
Like a flood with a torrent of words and accusations, our enemy rides the waves of high things directed at and purposed to make mincemeat of the believer’s mind. There is a lie in his right hand, a false scenario, a fabrication of truth.
Very believable are the lies since the fallen nature of man has a capacity to worry, to be anxious, fearful. Sadness can overwhelm us, unforgiveness plagues us, doubt distracts us. Cares and lusts and deceptions hinder us ad nauseum. We are often enemies to ourselves .
But the Lord will lift up a standard against him. What is it?
” …therefore, as it is, that when a violent enemy assails the church; when he comes in with error, with violence, and with allies, like a flood, Yahweh will rear a standard against him, and the influences of the Spirit of God may be expected to interpose to arrest the evil; yet this passage does not teach that doctrine, nor should it be so applied. It does teach that Yahweh will go forth with energy and power to defend his people and to prostrate his foes.” Barnes Notes on Isaiah 59:19
Hallelujah, God will fight for us!
Isaiah 5:26 “And he will lift up an ensign to the nations from far, and will hiss unto them from the end of the earth: and, behold, they shall come with speed swiftly.” A flag, a sail, a flagstaff lifts. Isaiah 13:2 “Lift ye up a banner upon the high mountain,” Isaiah 18:3 “All ye inhabitants of the world, and dwellers on the earth, see ye, when he lifts up an ensign on the mountains; and when he blows a trumpet, hear ye. “
Our God is fighting, fighting, fighting our battles. “I will sing unto the Lord for He has triumphed gloriously, the horse and rider are thrown onto the sea.” See Exodus 15: 21
“The Lord shall reign for ever and ever. For the horse of Pharaoh went in with his chariots and with his horsemen into the sea, and the Lord brought again the waters of the sea upon them; but the children of Israel went on dry land in the midst of the sea. ” Exodus 15:18-19
Here’s the story in part”
“And he made ready his chariot, and took his people with him: And he took six hundred chosen chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt, and captains over every one of them. And the Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued after the children of Israel: and the children of Israel went out with an high hand. …all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, …overtook them encamping by the sea” ” and the children of Israel cried out unto the Lord. ” And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. Exodus 14:14
“The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.”
“And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left. And the Egyptians pursued, and went in after them to the midst of the sea, even all Pharaoh’s horses, his chariots, and his horsemen. “
“And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, and all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them; there remained not so much as one of them. “
Take heart friends. God will fight the battle already won at Calvary. The greatest battle ever fought took place there, as Jesus shed His blood for the sins of the world. “How shall the Father not, with Him, freely give us all things.” Romans 8:32. love ya
