Fight

Have you ever noticed the number of basic daily routines that go in to balancing a simple day? Get out of bed, wash face, put teeth in, drink some Joe, put on under garb, install any body-braces or appliances, (each may have their own baggage.) Then we eat something or go to the gym first, get some gas in the car, drop off the kids, brush teeth and hair, then discuss something with our spouse.

This list fragments the complete one which is much larger than we might care to think about. If a few habits or even just one decide to rebel, however, we can expect a disruption; and sometimes fierce.

For most of us the extensive juggling demands “too much” of us. We may do only enough to get by and when our “enough” scrapes by for a week or longer, we surrender to it and adopt it as a permanent scheme. Only 80% of our requisite details are performing now, but all is still working satisfactorily in our mind. Then a day comes when hell discovers our neglected preparations. Abruptly, we must scramble to shut down, close off, shore up, or patch up. Consequences abound.

So, having made a general observation thus far, we ask the question: is our entire life just a mere back and forth movement? Has it become a bouncing between creating ways to let our weary hair down in desperation; and once found, fending off intrusion after interruption to prolong it? Is “serenity now” our biggest goal? Can’t wait for a little pleasure? If so, fellow believer, you’re already defeated.

You’ve missed the higher “spiritual” battle by being worn out in the lower one. You have self-concocted your own false war, and you’re struggling at it. Let me reiterate: folks lose sight of what they should prioritize by hooking into trivial conflict. In that pressure cooker they begin to play to “not lose.” Sometimes we muster strength to try to win. Whatever our strategic enablement, my fellow believers, did you forget this: the higher war was won 2000 years ago at Calvary?

See, in the genuine battle our enemy fights a war of attrition. This means he tries to wear us down through continued attack, being fully aware that our victory and resulting safety is a permanent deal. It cannot be revoked. His strategy tries to tire us with nag, with hassle, with worry, with badger. Why?

He must try to make it look like our prevailing is unimportant, or is not the whole covering yet, or just a minor success in relation to his deceived big-picture war. He messes with our priorities, convictions and values. He is dire straits to change the whole culture to create his deceit. He subtly alters the standards, or ups the ante to get us to comply with his revolutionary fabricated-world stage. He aims to destroy any manifestation of his utter defeat.

His hands-on tactic gets us frenzied with doubt and despair with people or events. He then distracts focus from our once-for-all finished victory. From the periphery, he detours us into giving him audience first, and then, he turns the value-tables. If we give in to exalting lower priorities, we assume a weakened position. Now we take up a different fight. This one front lines the battle with circumstances, health issues, family concerns, finances

We can’t win at that refocused battle but our enemy will throw us a bone occasionally to make it look like we are prevailing in his no-win fight. Again, his vehement desire is to keep us pinned down in the false conflict. He works the diligent deceit.

Our escape comes not through persevering in the phony struggle, but in learning how to evade it, We simply disregard it and then ignore it. We trust God to care for those issues. Then, to stay in continued shake-off mode, spiritual detailed focus toward Christ must be employed. “Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.” “How shall we escape if we neglect so great salvation?” is Hebrews 2:1,3.

We must put on the helmet of forever salvation, breastplate of the gift of righteousness; shield of faith, quenching all empirical or rational observation; and sword of the spirit, the rhema of God. Next, loins of Holy Spirit power source girt with impenetrable truth, and lastly “feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace.” “It is written” must be tip of tongue, to quench all fiery darts. We stand.

Now, to evade the garbage pit forever I pro-actively attend to my salvation as written in God’s Word. I rehearse it, meditate on it and memorize it. I befriend it daily —in quiet times and in the assembly of the saints. I stay in communion with God’s Spirit and God’s people. I confess sins to God, and let no air come between us. I receive messages from my pastor and let them adjust me.

Finally, “Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall,” this is 2 Peter 1:10. I labor to enter into His rest” in Hebrews 4:11 and “study to show myself approved” in 2 Timothy 2:15. I cast down imaginations and fight the good fight of faith. I Keep myself in the love of God.

I am a soldier and do not entangle myself with the cares of this world. Beloved, in the sphere of Christ’s liberty no weariness can be found. Grace has no pressure, nor baggage in God’s mercy. We bask in it, enjoy it, let it uplift our spirit and body. He that doeth these things shall never be moved. Love ya

Wow…thanks Pastor Tom. We can think we are being spiritual fighting a morality fight that God never wanted us involved in…He ended it with the cross & wants us exercising faith rest. Actually would you say that faith rest IS our weapon of warfare? Very freeing…The devil is so cunning…
